As fellow Deacs, we live and breathe our values of making the world a better place for all of its inhabitants. After all, without Pro Humanitate, there’s no humanitate!
That’s why we’re upping our own game this year. The floor you’ll dance the night away on at Party So Dear will be made from recycled materials, many centerpieces will be reused throughout the weekend, and water refill stations will be available at all of our events to keep you hydrated.
Follow these quick tips to make the most out of your Homecoming experience:
- Bring a reusable bottle. Avoid concession lines by refilling your reusable water bottle at any of the free refill stations inside Allegacy stadium. You can bring completely empty, reusable water bottles of any size through the gates this year as long as they are plastic (not glass or metal). Water refill stations will also be positioned at all events, making it easy for you to choose to reuse.
- Compost with us at Party So Dear. We’re proud to partner with Harvest Table Culinary Group to make Party So Dear a zero-landfill event, meaning everything provided will be either reused, recycled, or composted. After you enjoy food and drinks, designated Compost Crew volunteers will help you quickly sort any waste into its place.
- Take the free shuttles with friends. Save yourself the headache of searching and paying for parking. Complimentary shuttles will make the 2-minute trip from 2400 Reynolda to campus continuously on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 a.m. WFU Athletics will also offer complimentary shuttles from 2400 Reynolda to Allegacy Stadium for the football game. - Explore sustainability features on campus. See sustainability in action at these locations as you walk around campus and remember your favorite moments as a Deac.
If you’re hoping to connect with fellow alumni interested in environment and sustainability, drop by the Office of Sustainability’s table at Festival On the Quad or open house in Building 29 anytime 11:00am – 1:00pm on Saturday before cheering on the Deacs.
